Machin head stamps have really stood the test of time. It is 40 years since they became the standard issue and replaced the Wildings, which had been in service since 1952. To mark their fortieth anniversary, we have put together a special assortment of 40 different pre-decimal machins. This comprises the set of 32 values including all issued band and gum variations as per the Concise catalogue, PLUS 3 broad phosphor varieties and 5 missing phosphor stamps. The latter 8 stamps are all errors of printing. For those of you who would like to explore Machin errors we will send out a free price list with all orders for this offer.

The success of the first two regional offers really caught us by surprise. We are now moving on to the next series of issues from 1984-88. The offer consists of the 30 basic stamps illustrated, and we strongly recommend early ordering, as both of the previous offers have been very heavily oversubscribed and difficult to replace. Having said that they do continue to come into stock as we buy new collections, so we have included them in the order form. If we can also still supply the originals we will!

We are often asked of a certain item why it is that we haven’t offered it for a while. In short unless we are confident that we can supply a decent quantity we make a rod for our back by listing something that builds up only slowly. Folded booklets are just such an item. It is well over a year since we last had sufficient to tempt you with. This offer comprises the ten different illustrated folded booklets from the 1981/3 Follies and Farms series, catalogue numbers FB16/26. Perforations will be ‘as they come’. This will probably sell out, so early ordering is strongly recommended.

This is also definitely a ‘he who hesitates is lost’ offer, as we have precisely 18 of these in stock, and no prospect whatsoever of replenishing. You may well recognise the perforated stamp illustrated, but the imperforate one is very seldom seen. It is the ‘mise en train’ proof of the 1943 Jersey view stamp, issued during the Nazi Occupation of the Channel Islands. The proofs were only ever issued on four of the values, and when offered the sets fetch about £200 a time. They are ungummed imperforate printing trials and make fascinating and rare additions to any collection. The set catalogues at £250 and is listed in the specialist Channel Island volumes. We offer it with a normal for comparison.

For the very first time we are pleased to be able to offer the stamps of Alderney for your consideration. Alderney started issuing stamps in 1983, and until then used Guernsey stamps, as it is one of the Channel Islands. The sets have never been available in large quantities and many are really difficult to obtain, so we cannot offer them as specific groups, because we will have to do some mixing and matching at this end. For that reason we have had to present them as a choice of 6 from those illustrated for £19.95, or any 12 for £39.90 post free. This provides a very economical way to build a collection, and whilst it may have a few gaps, we can probably fill these on a case by case basis from our standard price lists. 6 Alderney sets of our choice for £19.95, or 12 for £39.90.
