ITEM 4 - Battle of Trafalgar
2005 was the bi-centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar and this offer is all about that. It consists of two parts, firstly a wonderful set of 24 unmounted mint stamps from the Solomon Islands. Modern commemorative sets from recent years from most countries are in short supply as spiralling face values have prevented any significant stock holdings. Consequently catalogue prices rise quickly and retail prices are a high percentage of that. This set SG1087/1110 would usually sell for over £30. We have combined this with our own official First day cover for the British Trafalgar Stamp issue cancelled by our own sponsored postmark and signed by Victoria Cross holder Ian Fraser who died on 1 September 2008 and Sir Alan West KCB DSC ADC then First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff. ITEM 5 - Sri Lanka Errors
Errors and varieties particularly very visual ones really spice up a collection. We recently acquired a small quantity of these two stamps from Sri Lanka, they are SG1553 and SG1554 being two values from the 2001 Drummers set. We have deliberately shown the normal stamps as well, since these clearly show the very large mis-perforation that has occurred with these stamps. These are both highly visual errors and in both cases, intrinsic parts of the stamp design have moved into an adjacent stamp or the margin, these are significant movements, which are increasingly rare nowadays due to the quality controls applied within security printers.
