In a recent selection we offered some of the Channel Island Wartime First Day Covers. The same treasure trove of stock yielded two other rarer covers, being the 11d and 2d. These are in the same format as their predecessors, on cacheted postcards. This offer provides an opportunity to collect a splendid series of covers issued to commemorate the First World War. In each selection over the coming months, we will feature four sequential covers - they are all numbered in the top left hand corner - from this fascinating series. The offer consists of four covers, but for those who want to save the postage we have shown covers 1 to 8, which are available as a double offer post free. They tell the story of the war through philatelic eyes, with a variety of postmarks and cachets, and approximately half the covers bear relevant signatures too. This offer focuses on the Olympics which are of course increasingly topical and this offer all the more so given its content. It consists of no fewer than ten different items. The first four (only 3 are pictured) are a set of covers issued by the US Post Office in 1996 adorned by 20 different stamps. The item shown to the right is a most interesting. It includes the 1948 Olympic set of British stamps, personally signed by Lord Sebastian Coe, Britains greatest ever middle distance runner, and co-ordinator now of the 2012 London Olympics. To complete the offer is a seldom seen set of five British covers also commemorating the 1996 Olympics, featuring five different special postmarks.
