The advent of decimilisation in 1971 heralded a new look for the classic Machin series, with the illustrated 10/20/50p and £1 values updated from their 1967 predecessors. We have been fortunate to pick up complete sheets which enable us to offer these as attractive blocks of four, and to complement them, we are including the two First Day Covers that marry up with the stamps. ITEM 2 - Benham Silks
We recently offered a selection of the stunning Benham postcard First Day series which as many of you discovered rapidly sold out! This prompted a little lateral thinking on our part and we have put together a similar offering but this time of the Benham Small Silk covers. These are even more attractive, and we have maintained the same keen pricing. Selections will vary. Our recent starter collections of Wilding booklets have proven highly popular, and we have now taken a step forward to 1967/71, to present a similar offering of the pre-decimal Machin booklets. many of these are thematic in content as there are series of Explorers, Country Homes, Ships and Birds on the illustrated covers of most of the issues. ITEM 7 - Muhammad Ali
You wil be hard pushed to find these in the catalogues, most of them are at best described as semi official, but that adds a dash of intrigue, a word that can also be attributed to the focus of these issues: the legendary Muhammad Ali. There are a total of 9 items, consisting of 4 sheetlets with nine stamps in each (we've illustrated them out of the sheets as they are large items) and 5 single stamp miniature sheets, depicting a range of Ali’s strut and swagger. ITEM 8 - Phosphor Commemoratives
The phosphor banded commemoratives from the 1960s are seldom available in quantity, and this is a chance to snap up some of the difficult issues from the early '60s, in perfect unmounted mint condition. 8(a), on the left is the Geographical Phosphor set combined with 6d Paris, and the 1963 Nature set, and this is offered at £19.95 + £1pp 8(b), on the right is the Botanical Phosphor set, with Lister and the United Nations, also £19.95 + £1pp 8(a) or (b) for £19.95 +£1pp each or both for £39.90 postfree.
