ITEM 2 - 2001 Commemorative Yearset
The year unit for 2001 is inevitably a chunky item with the high face values being at the level they are. This makes it a double unit and you will receive in unmounted mint condition all of the issues you see illustrated. An interesting feature of the Nobel Prizes sets is that each stamp is innovative in its own right, so for example the 2nd class value seen at the bottom left is heat sensitive! If you rub the stamp the design disappears, and the 40 pence value is 'scratch and sniff'. Rub the stamp to release a distinctive eucalyptus aroma! This is another one country collection this time around featuring Ghana. The stamps shown are likely to form the backbone of what you'll receive, but there will be some slight variation on the double lots. ITEM 5 - Postal Strike
In the box below underneath the order form is a place for further interests. We do read them! A frequent request is for Strike Post material and with Jerry here in the Strand we now have the considerable benefit of all his knowledge and stock. In 1971, there was a Postal Strike due to the introduction of decimalisation. For about 6 weeks, private individuals were permitted to deliver mail, and the philatelic community was quick to spot the opportunities for enterprise, and hundreds of different stamps, covers and labels came into being. ITEM 8 - Machins
Machin collectors are catered for with this collection of the Phosphor Coated Paper varieties that were introduced from about 1980 onwards and this composite unit of 69 different takes the headache out of finding them all. These stamps do not show the phosphor bands seen on their predecessors, and are distingushable from later issues as they do not have the elliptical perforations that are now the norm.
