£19.95 - SELECTION V

ITEM 1
This is an Isle of Man offer, providing you with the chance to add a very interesting stamp to your collection, with some matching cylinder blocks. A key stamp missing from most collections is the Isle of Man 3d Chalky. This was issued in 1963, and was the forerunner of all later regional stamps which shifted from non chalky watermarked paper to chalky unwatermarked paper in the late 60s. This was the first such stamp and it has always been elusive and difficult to obtain. It is supplied in unmounted mint condition (with a normal for comparison), as of course are the 6 different cylinder blocks (these incidentally will not duplicate those supplied in the regional offer below). This is a probable sell out, so don't delay. 3d chalky and 6 IOM cylinders for £19.95.

ITEM 2
This month we have two new cylinder block offers. The first comprises 12 different pre decimal machin blocks, the second 12 different pre decimal regional cylinder block. The illustrations are representative of what you will receive, but we cannot guarantee any particular blocks, only that they will all be different! We do not have sufficient to do 24s. You can choose from either of these lots at £19.95 each, or save yourself the postage on them and select both for £39.90 postfree.

ITEM 3
We recently offered Isle of Man miniature sheets: W0W what a response. This month we are offering a similar range but from Guernsey and this comes with a strong recommendation to place your order early! These are going to fly. You have been warned! If you missed the Isle of Man offer, we can still supply this too, although probably not for more much longer; please see the order form and complete it carefully. We can offer ten different Guernsey miniature sheets for £19.95 or 20 different for £39.90 postfree.

ITEM 4
One of our most popular offers of all times was a selection of Birds stamps in full sets from around the Commonwealth. This is an extension of that offer and it comes from altogether different sources and includes some non Commonwealth sets, so duplication with the previous lot is unlikely although we cant say categorically that there will be none. The offer comprises a guaranteed catalogue value of at least £40 from both Commonwealth and non Commonwealth countries, and of course there will be no duplication within the selection. This new stock is wide enough to enable us to offer two completely different lots, so why not take advantage of our buying power to increase the range of your collection £40 catalogue value of mint Birds sets for £19.95 or £80 catalogue value for £39.90 postfree.

ITEM 5
The ranges of mint sets we have previously offered from the South African homelands have been highly popular providing a wealth of different sets without any huge outlay. We knew we had the final stock buried somewhere, it's just taken us three months to find it! This offer consists of Bophuthatswana. These are lovely inexpensive stamps. The selection you'll receive is pretty well represented by the pictures, although there may be some variation. The catalogue value is as near as makes no difference £50, and there are likely to be 20 unmounted mint sets or so, with plenty of diverse themes. And if you missed out on the original offering of Ciskei, Transkei and Venda, whilst they have sold out as individual homelands, we can offer a £50 catalogue selection sourced from the other three homelands for £19.95.

ITEM 6
Collectors of fine used Commonwealth stamps have for a long time been asking 'What about us?'. We have never had the opportunity to buy fine used in the same depth as we have unmounted mint, but have been quietly accumulating stock for an offer like this. The illustrations show the calibre of the stock and the diversity. What we are offering is a catalogue of £50 for just £19.95. This will secure you a super array of fine used sets, and the anticipation that comes with a pot-pourri type selection. As explained above, we have the range but not depth, so if you want to grab the opportunity, you can double up, and select two lots with £100 catalogue value for £39.90 postfree. Satisfaction or refund guarantee applies to this just as much as it does to any of our other lots.

ITEM 7
Here's a chance to pick up some interesting George VI items. Cylinder blocks aren't a purely modern phenomenon. People were queueing at Post Office counters nearly 70 years ago to satisfy their collecting instincts, and the range of blocks available wasn't far short of that provided by machins. You can dip back into history with this offer, but dont expect these to be quite as Post Office fresh as something you might obtain in your Post Office today! We have a huge range of stock, but very little duplication, so this is another of those offers where you can double or triple up on the basic selection. We'll supply four different 1937 DARK COLOUR cylinder blocks of 6 for £19.95, 8 for £39.90, 12 for £57.50 or 16 for £75. Multiple purchases are of course postfree. (LOOK OUT FOR THE LIGHT COLOURS NEXT LIST)

ITEM 8
Here's a charming and unlikely ever to be repeated offer. If you like unusual First Day Covers, well this set from 1973 certainly tells a story. It is the set of 6 covers produced for the Good King Wenceslas set of Christmas stamps. They are all on individual covers produced to commemorate one Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a famous mathematician, better known as Lewis Carroll, author of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". Quite what possessed the sponsor of this rare special postmark, and set of beautifully illustrated envelopes to seize on the 141st Anniversary of Lewis Carroll's birth, as the sort of Anniversary that warranted a commemoration with a handstamp given over to this date is well beyond our comprehension. 50th, 100th, or 250th anniversary we could understand, but 141st? Maybe this explains why the set commands the weighty catalogue value of £75!!! It's often the way. Things that are quirky go unnoticed at the time, and then appreciate in value. We purchased what we believe to be the remnants of the original stock over 10 years ago (we've never seen any bulk stocks since) and in time honoured stamp dealers fashion forgot them. We have just 35 sets available. Definitely a case we suspect of 'he who hesitates is lost'.

ITEM 9
Finally this is a chance for collectors of fine used GB Commemoratives to fill some gaps inexpensively. If you have ever wondered what happens to tired handwritten First Day Covers, well here's what we do with them. Cut the stamps from the envelope and you are left with sets of fine used stamps. We have been putting covers aside for ages to enable us to offer the used on paper sets to collectors who dont mind removing the stamps from the envelopes themselves. We simply dont have the time, so you can save yourselves a bundle on our list price this way. Sets range from the 1970s through to the late 80s. We'll supply 35 different on paper sets for £19.95, or as a bonus, 75 different - yes more than double - for just £39.90 postfree.
