The basic offer consists of a plate block of 4 stamps of the 10pCerise - this stamp once fetched £10 per copy in the height of the last boom - the 20p Olive, 50p Ultramarine, and the £1 Black. Like the cylinder blocks of the machin low values, these come with a huge assortment of different numbers and make a fascinating area for collecting. This is a splendid selection of decimal stitched booklet panes. Most of these are catalogued in the Concise and the catalogue values of any featuring 1/2 p or 21/2pvalues start at £2.75 going up to £3.75. For good measure we have included a total of 12 panes (the 3p pane may vary from that illustrated). You can reckon on a catalogue value of +/- £40. Perforations will be ‘as they come’. This offer provides you with the chance to start a collection of Machin missing phosphors. These are a fascinating collectors field. Phosphor bands are applied to stamps - and have been since 1960 - to assist with automated sorting. Needless to say, when the printing doesn't go to order, stamps are issued with the phosphor omitted. These are not be confused with the later all over phosphor stamps, which are issued as intended. Some of these varieties fetch hundreds of pounds! With this offer we provide 6different missing phosphors for £19.95, or double up with 12 for £39.90, or we'll do a fabulous starter collection of 20 for £57.50. The 1977 High Values created a flurry of interest as they included the first £5 for over 100 years - which makes you wonder what the Victorians made of the £5Orange! These regal looking stamps replaced the previous high values, which had been in circulation for over 20 years. Machin head stamps have really stood the test of time. It is 40 years since they became the standard issue and replaced the Wildings, which had been in service since 1952. To mark their fortieth anniversary, we have put together a special assortment of 40 different pre-decimal machins. This comprises the set of 32 values including all issued band and gum variations as per the Concise catalogue, PLUS 3 broad phosphor varieties and 5 missing phosphor stamps. This booklet offer comprises the Christmas folded booklets issued between 1978 and1986. We are splitting this into two lots of five different. The first will comprise the five editions 1978 -1982 inclusive; the second lot will comprise 1983 to 1986 (both types) inclusive.
