Football Specials - Come on England

World Cup fever is well and truly upon us so it is only fitting that our latest offering is a selection of football related items. England have just beaten Jamaica 6 – 0 in their final warm up game before travelling to Germany for the World Cup finals and while the nation waits with trepidation for the daily bulletin on Wayne Rooney’s injury, we hope you will find time to be tempted by some of the footballing delights we have managed to uncover, which includes some signed items including the genuine signature of the only footballer to have scored a hat-trick in a World Cup final, namely Sir Geoff Hurst. By their very nature, some of these offers are limited so early ordering is strongly recommended. As there are several different priced items on this list, all orders below £30 are subject to a postage and packing fee of £1. It would of course be very remiss of us not to say ‘Come on England’ and if orders are a little slower being processed than normal when England are playing their games, we hope you will understand.

Item 1 We start this special list with a cover produced by us in our ‘Legends of the Beautiful Game’ series. The cover design shows Jimmy Greaves and is personally signed by him in blue sharpie pen. Whilst the postmark and stamp may vary from that illustrated, the cover and signature will be as shown. Jimmy Greaves was a member of the victorious 1966 World Cup winning squad but was famously ‘dropped’ for the final in favour of Geoff Hurst – arguably one of the most inspired managerial decisions ever – Sven please take note! We are also offering the signature of another football legend, Sir Tom Finney who has signed our cover in black sharpie pen. The stamps on this cover may vary but the cover and signature will not. Item 2 Next up whilst we reminisce over 1966, here is a commemorative cover we produced to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of England’s World Cup win. This cover bears a complete set of the 1966 World up stamps plus the ‘England Winners’ stamp, how we’d love to be saying that again later this summer! We have then added the Bobby Moore stamp issued in 1999 and finally to complete the deal, this cover is personally signed by Jack Charlton stalwart defender and member of the Victorious World Cup winning side of 1966. Item 3 This is a brand new item, a Bobby Moore postcard issued in 1999, to which we affixed the matching Bobby Moore stamp and a 40th Anniversary postmark again showing Bobby Moore in matching pose. Item 4 Another ‘new arrival’, this is our very own Commemorative / First Day cover for the 2006 World Cup which is postmarked 6th June 2006, with a special ‘England 4, W. Germany 2’ postmark. The cover has a 1st class stamp which celebrates England’s 1966 World Cup win together with an attached label, having been taken from the ‘Smiler’s Sheet issued by Royal Mail on 6th June 2006. Again we have also affixed a Bobby Moore stamp on this cover – please note we have used are two different Bobby Moore Stamps for this purpose, only one is illustrated, you may receive either. We also have available the ‘Smiler’s Sheet as issued by Royal Mail in perfect unmounted mint condition which tells the story of England’s day in the 20 different pictorial labels attached to the stamps. 2006 Smilers FDC for £4.95, Smilers Sheet £10, or both together for £14.

Item 5 Not forgetting our Scottish customers, we have our 2000 Body and Bone First Day cover bearing a full set of stamps. The 1st stamp showing a footballer’s legs was issued to commemorate Hampden Park home ground for Scotland’s international football matches. This cover is personally signed in black sharpie pen by Craig Brown former manager of the Scottish International side. We do not have too many of these left now. Craig Brown signed FDC for £14.95. Item 6 If you have been a customer for some time you will know that we have offered the set of 13 Football cards issued by Grenada before. These all have the relevant football club logo and a full sheetlet of stamps affixed for the following teams; Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers, Celtic, Chelsea, Everton, Ipswich Town, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Norwich City, Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur. Item 7 This is a pair of covers issued to commemorate the 2002 World Cup in Japan / Korea. It comprises the First Day Cover issued by Isle of Man, plus our own First Day Cover with a ‘Good Luck England’ and ‘Becks’ (beer) postmark, a combination which appealed to us and hopefully you. Item 8 After much searching, we came across a few copies of some very nice items relating to the England 1966 World Cup win. Firstly we have a print of the classic picture showing Bobby Moore being held up by his team mates as they celebrate their victory on the pitch at Wembley. This print is 81/4 inches by 51/4 inches and is signed in black sharpie pen by the 1966 World Cup ‘Hat Trick’ hero Geoff Hurst. This is a genuine signature not autopen. Our other 1966 memorabilia offering is a commemorative cover featuring Wembley Stadium and two Bobby Moore stamps, but this cover has been signed by the late Kenneth ‘They think its all over’ Wolstenholme who was the BBC commentator for the 1966 World Cup Final. This offering is a great memento of some of the past tournaments: being 1986 and 1990. These stamped postcards all identify the match they feature and the stamp generally shows the squad of one of the teams. It is appropriately postmarked, and you will receive 25 different cards for £19.95 - that's under 80 pence each. Manchester United are arguably Britain’s most famous club team and we have two offers. Firstly we have the pair of 100th season customised stamp cards issued in 2002 postmarked on the first day of availability. Secondly we have the ‘United Heroes’ Smilers stamp sheet featuring the 2004 / 5 squad including Wayne Rooney. This very attractive sheet features the team members plus facsimile signatures and would look superb framed. This was a limited edition production of just 1000 items and we only have a few so do not be disappointed.
